"How did you do that?" everyone was asking Christina.
"I don't know! I just got angry, and didn't want that - that - THING
taking over my head! The next thing I knew, Phantasm was gone," Christina
explained.
"I may have an explanation. I was not sure of it before, but I am
now. Christina possesses immense telepathic powers. She used what could be
termed as a mind blast to destroy Phantasm," Zordon explained.
"So just by thinking about it, she destroyed the creature," Billy
said. "Amazing."
"Is there anything else you weren't sure of that I should be aware
of?" Christina asked.
"You may be a healer, but as no one was wounded in the battle, I can
not test that."
"If you want to test it, I slipped on the beam and cut my forehead
this morning," Kimberly volunteered.
"That will work. Christina..."
"I know, attempt to heal Kimberly's cut. What should I do?"
"Place your hand on Kimberly's wound and concentrate," Zordon
instructed. Christina did so, and Kimberly felt a tingling sensation where
her cut was. Christina removed her hand and Kimberly's cut was gone.
"Truly amazing," Billy whispered.
"If you have these powers, you may have more. I will alert you to
them when the time is right. Now, all of you must return to Angel Grove.
Take caution, Power Rangers. Lord Zedd will not remain idle for long."
Billy and Christina were walking through Angel Grove Park. "Why
haven't I seen you at school before?" Billy asked her.
"I don't go to Angel Grove High. I go to the Southern
California Fine Arts Academy."
"Oh. What did you think of your first day as a Power Ranger?"
"Exciting and confusing. I found out so many things yesterday, my
mind is still reeling. Zordon gave me what he called Saba. It's a saber
with a tiger head on the handle. He said it would give me counsel. I think
that in battle yesterday, it told me to call my Zord. I never got to it,
though. You saw what happened."
"Affirmative. Uh, Christina?" he ventured. "There's a dance
at school on Friday, and I was wondering if you'd like to attend with me?"
"I'd love to! Between practicing and studying, I don't get to get
out much."
"Excellent! Do you want me to pick you up, about quarter to nine?"
"Sure. I live at the Academy, in Nevins Hall. Billy, could you take
a look at the saber Zordon gave me?"
"Why?"
"I don't know. I guess I just want someone's opinion."
"Sure, I'll look at it, but Tommy would be the one to ask. He was
the White Ranger for a time."
"Why isn't he anymore?"
"He couldn't hold on to the energy, and it left him, bringing back
his Green power."
"Oh. Anyway, will you tell me what you can about Saba?"
"I don't know much about it. I've never seen it close up."
"It's in my bag if you want to see it." She sat down at a nearby
table, and pulled it out of her ever-present white bag.
"Hmm. The blade seems to be of some metallic alloy I've never seen
before, and the handle is of an unfamiliar polymer compound. Other than
Tommy, none of the other Rangers have ever had anything like this. I don't
know what to tell you." He handed the saber back to her. "I wonder
why you still have it when you're not morphed?" They didn't have time
to figure that out. Putties came flying out of nowhere at them.
"Billy, what should I do?" asked a frantic Christina.
"Aim for the Z-spot!" The two leapt into action. Billy avoided
two putties by neatly back flipping and landed on the table. Two swift
kicks and those putties disintegrated. Christina executed a jete and landed
behind a putty. When it turned around, a sharp elbow to the Z-spot greeted
it. They fought for fifteen minutes, then Christina was surrounded.
"Billy! Help me!" she cried. He fought off the remaining putties
in time to see the others disappearing with Christina. She found herself
in a strange, dark, cave-like place.
"Welcome to the Dark Dimension," a voice called out.
"Who are you?" she demanded.
"I am Lord Zedd, White Ranger, and you are mine."
"What do you mean?"
"You shall use your abilities to increase the powers of my creatures,
therefore destroying the Power Rangers, enabling me to conquer Earth!"
"I'll never use my abilities for evil!"
"Then you must be helped to see things my way." A bolt of red
came out of the darkness towards her. She deflected it as she had Phantasm's.
"You'll never get me to work against the Power Rangers!" She
hurtled a bolt of energy towards where the voice had come from. It shattered
against the wall, as there was no one there.
"Bwahaha! Puny human, you know not what you are dealing with!"
Lord Zedd's voice mocked her. She gathered all the energy she could, and
concentrated on a mental vision of Lord Zedd. She hurled the energy bolt
at where she supposed him to be.
"I have to get out of this place," she muttered. "Maybe
I can contact Billy or one of the others telepathically." She concentrated,
and sent out a message. <<Power Rangers, I need help. Can you
hear me?>>
<<Zack here, Christina. What's happened?>>
<<Lord Zedd has me trapped in someplace called the Dark Dimension.
How can I get out?>>
<<I'll let the others know, and Zordon
can get you out.>>
<<Thanks, Zack.>>
<<Any time.>> Christina leaned against the wall and felt
her bag press against her back. Her bag! She had forgotten about that.
She opened it and drew out Saba.
"Zordon said you would counsel me. If I ever needed counseling, it's
now. What should I do?" she asked the saber. It remained silent, but
a strange glow emanated from it. She moved, and the glow grew stronger.
"I get it! The glow must be like a compass. If I head in the direction
of the glow, I can find a way out!" She turned in a slow circle, and
walked towards what appeared to be a wall. The glow grew stronger and stronger
as she neared the wall. She extended her arm and it went right through
the wall! The glow encouraged her and she stepped through the wall. "I'm
back in the park," she whispered, and indeed, she was.
Suddenly, she
was teleported to the command center. "Christina, are you all right?"
Billy asked, concerned.
"I'm fine. How come the putties didn't take you, too?" she asked.
"Lord Zedd was interested in you alone, Christina. It would appear
that he wants to use your powers for his evil doings," Zordon told
her.
"That's what he said. Why did Zack tell me to just wait? I got out
easily enough."
"How did you get out? I was trying to find you with the scanner, but
I couldn't. You just appeared in the park," Billy told her.
"I remembered what Zordon said about Saba, so I asked for counsel.
It started glowing, and I just walked to where the glow was strongest.
I came to a wall, which I just walked right through, and I was in the park."
"It would appear that you also have the power to break spells. The
Dark Dimension is just that - a spell created by Lord Zedd. None of the
other Rangers have been able to leave it when they were trapped,"
Zordon told her. "Saba helped you by showing you the way, but it was
ultimately your own powers that enabled you to escape from Lord Zedd."
"So, she won't be taken over like Tommy was a while ago," Billy
said.
"That is correct. Her ability to block spells will prevent that, and
if Tommy is taken over again, she can release him from the spell,"
Zordon explained.
"This is so weird. One day, I'm just a ballerina, the next, I find
out I have all these powers. Do I have to worry about increasing the powers
of everyone I accidentally touch?" she asked.
"I believe you may be able to turn your multiplying abilities on and
off. If you can, then you just have to keep your ability off unless it
is needed."
"That's a relief. I wouldn't want to accidentally increase someone."
"Christina, we should let the others know you're all right,"
Billy said.
"You're right. Let's go."
