September 22, 2007 Today is my three-year wedding anniversary! To celebrate, I'm cleaning up the index pages once again. Google Ads deactivated my account, which didn't bother me too much, as I wasn't making anything from it anyway. As you can see from the "Coming Soon," I'm going to experiment with Project Wonderful. It's an interesting system that does away with click-throughs for payments. It's an auction model: you tell the system how much you're willing to pay for advertising and how long you want your ad to run, and if no one outbids you, you're set. You get advertising, the site owner gets paid (unless no one bids against you, and in that case, you get free advertising), and most everyone is happy. A lot of webcomics use Project Wonderful as their ad systems. Hopefully Monday, I'll get some time to update Designs of Greatness. It really hurts me that I've had to put in so much overtime at work, and can't take the time to do what I enjoy. August 26, 2007 Just some basic housekeeping, since I can't sleep. Fixed a broken link in Guardians, and removed the last vestiges of the old Freeservers ad code from about 6 fics. So now, any ad appearing on this site is one that supports me. I would love to make even $50 a day off ads and donations, because then I could drop down to part-time at work, and find a job closer to home. Currently, I have an hour commute, both ways, and usually a nine hour day--or more. I doubt it will ever happen, as now, I'm only averaging a penny a day in ads. Google suggests adding more ad units, but I like the nice, clean lines of the site and don't want to clutter it up. However, I am working on major rewrites of Designs of Greatness, trying to get it publish-ready. My goal is January. Details will be posted here as they happen. August 7, 2007 Note the shiny new PayPal donate button on the left. That is my tip jar. Like what you read? Please consider dropping a dollar in the jar. Please? This site is paid for out of my own pocket; in the past month, Google Ads has brought in a whopping thirty-eight cents. They can almost pay the postage for the check now. I'm especially asking anyone who likes the original work here (short stories, Designs of Greatness). I'd love to make a living off my writing, but until that happens, being able to go out to eat once every few months would be okay, too. And look! New category! DinoThunder makes its presence known with two short fics, Pain and Shadow. July 25, 2007 A friend in need... Amy Mebberson, an online friend of mine who draws Divalicious! with writer T Campbell, has received notice that Divalicious! will not be produced after volume 2 comes out, due to "fiscal reasons." In other words, it's only been out a few months, and doesn't have Harry Potter-like sales. Help them try to save Tina and her future stories; buy a copy! You won't regret it.
