I am a warrior. I have been a warrior for nearly
twenty millennia. I have seen planets conquered and planets liberated. For
the past fifteen millennia, I have served Lord Zedd directly and through
Rita Repulsa. I was a warrior of honor before I joined them, by the name
of Grifforzer, a warrior with the power of the mighty Griffin. I soared
through the air, fighting for justice for those forgotten by the system.
Lord Zedd approached me one night after such a victory.
My corps and I were celebrating with the people, enjoying a town festival
thrown in our honor. I saw him first, standing at a distance from the crowd.
He was much different then, in actions as well as appearance. He looked
noble, even regal that night as he wound his way through the common folk
to our table. He told me that he was a freedom fighter as well, that he
was looking for someone to command his armies of greatness to victory.
I was young and reckless then, one of the youngest in my corps. I believed
every lie he told us that night. My friends, my elders warned me not to
go, that he couldn't be trusted, but I was blinded by his offers of greatness.
I wasn't the only one.
A young woman in our corps also came with me the
next morning. Her name was Lammy. She was a beautiful warrior who had the
power of the Scorpion behind her. We joined Lord Zedd's troop of "freedom
fighters". It didn't take us long to realize that our friends had been
right. Lord Zedd was a conqueror, not a liberator. He was exactly the type
that Lammy and I had fought against in all our previous battles. It was
too late for us to go back. The people knew who we were and would revile
us forevermore. We stopped using our warriors' names, for they seemed a
mockery to us. Lammy took the name Scorpina. I took the name Goldar. We
stuck together through the battles, consoling each other after each horrifying
act. Lord Zedd began to sense our distaste for his actions and transferred
us to one of his lemans, a woman known as Rita Repulsa. She wasn't as cruel
as Lord Zedd, but was instead incompetent. Scorpina and I oversaw most
of her duties, befriending a young monster maker who had been recruited
from the Blue Triceratops Morphin Training. He never told us his previous
name, but only went by Finster.
Millennia passed, until one day Rita took it upon
herself to challenge a young Morphin Master by the name of Zordon. She
lost the battle, but not before she confined the young man to eternity
in a dimensional warp. Finster, Rita, two of her pages, and I were locked
into a dumpster for ten thousand years. In that time, I watched the remnants
of Rita's beauty, dignity, and charisma deteriorate until all that was
left was a bitter old maid. I was relieved when we were finally freed from
that dumpster.
But, things had changed. Scorpina had lost her distaste
for the cruel and brutal, becoming bloodthirsty, with a keen hatred for
Lord Zedd. Rita seemed to regain some of her confidence after we were freed,
but still had no competence. The newest team of Power Rangers thwarted
her every action, including her revival of the Green Ranger. Her actions
were becoming so pathetic that I almost welcomed the return of Lord Zedd.
I soon began to regret my feelings, though.
He had also changed. He was no longer the effective
if cruel conqueror he once was. He became obsessed with Earth and the Power
Rangers. His empire fell into ruins during his obsession with Earth. He
called most of his forces away from the conquered planets, so the rebellions
had little trouble reclaiming their planets. Lord Zedd filled with bitterness.
I began to resent him even more than I had before. His marriage to Rita
was expected, I guess, but it did nothing to help him.
Now, we are fleeing from the Machine Empire, a great
empire which rivals what Zedd's empire once was. The House of Gadgetry
is a strong ruling house, the way Zedd used to be. I almost envy them.
But I don't. I know that once they encounter the Power Rangers, they'll
start to decline, just as Rita and Zedd did.
I am a warrior. I have been a warrior for nearly
twenty millennia. I have done many things that I regret, but what I regret
the most is the loss of my honor. The price I paid for that was too dear.
