"Ay yi yi!" Alpha exclaimed as the sirens blared in the Power
Chamber. "Zordon, an intruder is in the Power Chamber!"
A light, airy laugh came from the shadows. "Alpha! Alpha Five, turn
those sirens off! It's only me."
"Can it be?" Zordon asked incredulously. "Are you really
on Earth?"
The figure stepped out of the shadows, revealing itself as a young woman
with waist length auburn hair and blue-green eyes, wearing a flowing silver
gown. "Yes, I'm really here on Earth," she replied, tears of
joy flowing freely down her face. "I'm really here, Father."
"Oh my goodness!" Kimberly squealed, reading the latest issue
of Glamour. "You guys are not going to believe this! Zelana
Christina, the hottest fashion designer in France, is coming to California!
She's opening a boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. I can't believe
it. She is so reclusive. No one has ever seen her. All her communication
is done through her her press secretary. I wonder why she's coming to the
U.S. now?" Tommy and David smiled weakly as Kimberly and Katherine
read the short article, enthralled.
"Look at this!" Katherine exclaimed. "She left her previous
modeling team in France and is sponsoring a state-wide search for new,
fresh models!"
"Kat, wouldn't it be so cool to model for the hottest
designer there is?" Kimberly asked in a conspiratorial tone.
"I've always wondered what it would be like. And you know, those male
models are very good looking, Kim. Perhaps we could trade in these
two for, say, newer models?" Katherine joked, thumbing at Tommy and
David.
"Hey!" they exclaimed in unison, looking wounded.
"What's wrong with us?" Tommy asked.
"Oh, nothing," the girls giggled. They left the youth center,
conspiring to enter both themselves and their boyfriends in the contest.
Pam White, Billy's editor at the Angel Grove Chronicle, had also seen
the article. She knew how reclusive Zelana Christina was. Two of her top
reporters had dislocated shoulders from being thrown--physically--off her
estate. Of course, Lois Kent and Clark Lane weren't exactly two of her
more subtle reporters, either. Now Billy Cranston, however, was pretty
good. Somehow, he always managed to get exclusive coverage of the Power
Rangers when nobody else could. Rereading the Glamour article, she
saw the part about the modeling contest.
"Hmm," she thought aloud. "no one would suspect a prospective
model to be seeking an interview." She sorted through her files, finding
Billy's resume and some nice shots taken at the paper's picnic. "These
will do nicely," Pam smiled, putting them in an envelope to send to
Beverly Hills.
Zelana sat on the floor of her office, surrounded by envelopes, her
long auburn hair falling around her face. She knew exactly who she was
looking for. She found the five entries in a group together.
"Tommy Oliver. Kimberly Hart. David Trueheart. Katherine Hilliard.
And most of all, Billy Cranston. These are my five models." Zelana
put the five unopened envelopes on her desk and started to prepare the
acceptance letters.
