Chapter Four: Revenge

"So, my daughter is my enemy. I shall bring her back to my side," Lord Zedd growled.
"How will you do that, O powerful one?" Goldar asked.
"I shall capture her and destroy that pendant the White Ranger gave her. Then, I will persuade her to join forces with me. We shall be unstoppable! The Power Rangers will never suspect an enemy in their midst. Their trust will be their downfall!"
    "A brilliant plan, my lord!"
"Now, go, capture her, and bring her to me!"
    "Right away, my lord!"

Jamie and Jason were walking through the park. "Jason, about what happened yesterday..."Jamie started.
"Jamie, before you say anything else, let me say something. I've liked you ever since the first time I saw you in the youth center. When you disappeared in the command center, I was worried sick about you. When we found out that you were Zedd's daughter, all I felt was a deep sorrow that you and I would never get to know each other better. If you're going to tell me that my kissing you was a mistake, then don't, and we'll just be friends and forget all about it," Jason said, looking at her with heart-wrenching pleading in his eyes. Suddenly, putties were flying at them. They fought the putties back to back, defending each other. The putties seemed to never end, coming out of trees, from behind bushes, everywhere. All of a sudden, there was a break, and Goldar stepped out .
"Ah, just what I was looking for! Come, lady, it is time for you to rejoin with your father," Goldar stated, stepping towards her.
"Jamie! It's morphin time!" Jason called. "Tyrannosaurus!"
"Chameleon!" The Red and Purple Rangers readied to battle Goldar.
"If you want Jamie, you have to go through me!" Red Ranger called out.
"Easy enough! Out of my way!" Goldar shouted. Purple Ranger tapped into her powers, and shimmered into invisibility. Red Ranger stepped aside, and Goldar said, "Huh? Where'd she go?"
"Over here, metal-head!" she called, unseen.
"How can I catch you if I can't see you?"
    "You can't catch me!"
Red Ranger felt Christina's mind-touch. <<Distract him and let Jamie absorb his power. I've already contacted her.>>
    <<All right.>>
Red Ranger called, "Hey, Goldar, over here!"
"Why should I go after you? It's her Lord Zedd wants!"
"But you can't see her! C'mon, metal-breath, one Ranger is better than nothing." Goldar started towards Red Ranger. Looking over Goldar's shoulder, Red Ranger could see Purple Ranger coming up behind Goldar. She grabbed Goldar's face, and Red Ranger saw an arc of energy pass between the two of them. Purple Ranger let go, and passed her hands over one another. She threw the resultant energy ball at Goldar, which caused him to transport back to the stronghold. The putties disappeared. "Let's get back and warn the others," Red Ranger said.
    "Right."

"Zordon, is there any way I can keep my father from kidnapping me?" Jamie asked. She and Jason had demorphed, and told the others about the attack. Then, all of them had transported to the command center.
"I do not know. The pendant should protect you from coming under his power, but unless you are under a constant Circle of Protection, you may be abducted," Zordon explained. "It may be best if you are never alone. One of the Rangers should be with you at all times."
    "What about at night?"
"Jamie, I may be able to transfer a bit of power into a ring or something, so you can invoke a Circle at night," Christina volunteered. "I can start working on it right away."
"Affirmative. It wouldn't be too hard," Billy agreed. "If we start working on it now, we should be done in about half an hour."
"Christina, you and Billy may start work on the ring," Zordon told them. The two transported out.
"You guys, I really want to thank you for everything," Jamie said.
"Hey, I know what it's like to have Zedd on your case. He's the reason my powers keep depleting. We're gonna keep him from getting his hands on you," Tommy told her. "Power Rangers stick together, no matter what."

Christina took a silver ring out of a box. "This should work," she said, handing it to Billy.
"How are you going to transfer the power to it?" he asked.
"The same way we did the pendants, just transfer the residue and tune it. The tuning is the hard part." She retrieved the ring from Billy, and began the energy transfer. While she was transferring and tuning the energy residue, they sat and talked.
"I would never have thought of doing this before I met you," he told her. "You are truly amazing."
"Thanks," she responded uncomfortably.  "Here, the tuning is done. I think it's the right frequency. Test it for me?"
"Why can't you test it yourself?"
"Because I can invoke a Circle without it. I need you to try to invoke a Circle with the ring."
"Oh." He took the ring from her. "What should I do?"
"Just call it up. Say, 'Circle of Protection - Blue!' " The crackle was in the air. "Darn. Blue circle - Inert! Now, you try it."
"Circle of Protection - Blue!" The electric crackle snapped in the air.
"It works!" Christina laughed. "Now inert it, and we'll give it to Jamie."
"Blue Circle - Inert!" The snap left the air. "Let's transport."

Three days later, Jamie was getting quite fed up with never being alone. She had been at the juice bar with other Rangers and had just needed to walk by herself. She had barely gotten twenty feet the outside when a swarm of putties headed for her. "Circle of Prot..." she started, but before she could invoke the spell, a putty came up behind her and knocked her out.
When she awoke, she was in Lord Zedd's stronghold, trapped in energy bonds. "So, my daughter, you have turned against me?" Lord Zedd asked. Jamie looked at her hands. "Looking for this?" He held up the ring Christina had given her. "I'm afraid it will be of no use to use to you now, and neither will that pendant!" He shattered the pendant with a bolt from his staff. "Now who will protect you?" he cackled with delight.
Jamie had a plan. She could feel the energy in her bonds. If she could absorb it, she could use it against Lord Zedd. First, though, she had to get his guard down. "Father, I see now how foolish I was to turn against you. The Power Rangers are weak compared to you. If your offer still stands, I would enjoy crushing the Rangers with their trust," Jamie said. She began to slowly absorb the energy from her bonds.
"I am glad to see you have come to your senses, daughter. When I am the ruler of Earth, you shall stand by my side, proudly."
"Yes, Father. I look forward to that day." It was working! She could feel the energy filling her.
"You shall bring the downfall of the Power Rangers from within!"
"Yes, Father, it shall be child's play, they are so trusting." Jamie pulled more energy from her bonds. They were weakening; there was barely enough energy left in them to hold her. Zedd didn't seem to notice that the bonds were not glowing as brightly as they used to.
"Daughter, a new age is dawning! We shall reign supreme!" Lord Zedd gloated.
"That's what you think!" Jamie absorbed the last of the energy from her bonds. She passed her hands together; once, twice, three times.
"Uh-oh, I know what that means!" Goldar said, running from the room. Jamie threw the massive ball of energy at Lord Zedd. He screamed and dropped his staff.
Jamie retrieved the staff and the ring. "I'll never work for you!" she shouted, and transported out of the stronghold.
