Jamie and the White Ranger quietly crept into the main of Zedd's stronghold.
"Where's Jason being kept?" White Ranger whispered.
"In the throne room," Jamie replied. They stealthily entered
the throne room and saw Jason in the energy field. Lord Zedd was nowhere
to be seen.
"Do you think it could be a trap?" White Ranger asked.
"I don't know. Let's just get Jason and get out of here." White
Ranger sent Jason a message. <<Hold still. We're going to get
you out. Prepare to morph when I invoke the Circle.>>
<<My powers are weak. I don't know if I can morph.>>
<<Just try to. If you can't, Jamie will transport you out.>>
<<No! She's under Zedd's control.>>
<<Not anymore. Watch out!>> White Ranger sent out an energy
blast and broke the field. "Circle of Protection - Red!"
"Tyrannosaurus!" Jason morphed into the Red Ranger. "Let's
get out of here!" he shouted. They all transported back to the command
center.
"Christina, are you all right?" Billy asked, concerned.
"I'm fine. Check on Jason."
"Jase, bud, are you okay?" Tommy asked him.
"I don't know. Zedd did something, tried to drain my power. I barely
had enough to morph out of there," Jason said.
"I know what that's like," Tommy sympathized. "Christina,
will you be able to multiply Jason's powers?"
"Yes, but his should come back naturally, after a while. I can increase
them temporarily while they're regenerating. Do you want me to?" she
asked Jason.
"I'd appreciate it, if we're going into battle."
"Jamie, do you accept the offer of the Purple Ranger?" Zordon
asked.
"I do," she replied.
"You shall have control of the Chameleonzord. Its powers will enhance
your natural power of energy manipulation to be virtually undetected among
your enemies." The morpher materialized in her hands. "Are you
aware of your inherited powers?"
"What inherited powers?"
"From your father, you inherited the powers of energy absorption,
manipulation, and release. Your power of absorption is akin to Christina's
power of multiplication, but instead of increasing other's powers, you
absorb them into your being. However, you can not hold onto these powers,
and must release them in the form of energy bolts. You also have the ability
to manipulate energy to create vortices, through which you can transport
yourself and others. Like Christina, you can turn your powers on and off,
so you needn't worry about accidentally absorbing another's powers,"
Zordon explained.
"Christina, will you help me to control my powers?" Jamie asked.
"Sure. Zordon, should I multiply Jason's powers now?" she asked.
"Yes, Christina. Also multiply Tommy's. I fear a war coming and we
shall need him at full strength."
"I'll get right to it."
She and Jason linked arms.
"You guys, it's been three days since we rescued Jason, and Lord
Zedd hasn't tried anything. We haven't even seen a single putty. Do you
think something may be up?" Trini wondered. The Rangers were sitting
in the juice bar, discussing recent events.
"I don't know. Jamie, can you sense what Zedd's doing?" Christina
asked. Recently, they had discovered that Jamie could at times track Zedd's
location, due to her relation to him.
"I can't locate him. It's almost as if he just disappeared,"
Jamie replied.
"Jamie, I have to warm up before my class. Do you want to spar again?"
Jason asked her.
"Sure. I need the practice." She got up and they went to the
gym.
"Jamie, Christina's Academy is performing Swan Lake this weekend.
Would you like to go?" he asked her.
"Why not? I've never seen her dance. Is anyone else going?"
"Well, Billy, of course - they're going steady - and I think Trini
and Zack are going, as well as Kimberly and Tommy."
"So in other words, the whole gang." There was a tinge of regret
in her voice.
"Yeah. We all stick together and support each other."
"Well, you can count on me. I still feel really bad about betraying
you."
"Don't worry about it. You were under a spell. If you had a choice,
I know you wouldn't have betrayed me. Besides, as long as you're in the
circle, Zedd can't touch you." Christina came running up to them.
"Hey, you guys, I almost forgot something." She handed each of
them a pendant. "I've used so much power that it's starting to leave
a residue. Zordon showed me how to collect and refine it and Billy and
I created these pendants. They're spell-blockers. All you have to do is
say, 'Invoke,' and you'll be protected from spells. There's one for everyone."
"Thanks, but won't the Circle protect us?" Jason asked.
"It will, but it causes interference. These won't protect you from
physical harm, but they'll block out spells, which is all you really need,
Jamie." Jamie and Jason slipped the pendants over their heads. "When
I turn off the Circles, invoke the pendants," Christina told them.
"We don't want to take any chances." They agreed, and Christina
called, "Red Circle - Inert! Purple Circle - Inert!"
Immediately,
both Jason and Jamie called, "Invoke!" The pendants glowed and
Christina heaved a sigh of relief.
"They work. Well, I'll let you
get back to practice now. I need to go to rehearsal. See you later!"
She waved and left.
"Is she always so perky?" Jamie asked.
"Most of the time. Still want to spar?"
"Sure." They started. Jamie felled Jason four times within three
minutes. "For someone who's a third degree black belt, you certainly
let yourself get caught off guard a lot," Jamie giggled, helping him
up.
"Oh yeah?" He suddenly jerked on her arm and she toppled
over. "Now who's been caught off guard?" Their eyes caught. Jason
leaned over Jamie and kissed her gently. They heard groans and giggles
and looked up. Jason's beginner class of seven and eight year olds were
standing in the doorway. "Okay, guys, that's enough. Find your places;
I'll be back in a minute," Jason said, standing up and brushing himself
off. He walked Jamie to the door. "Sorry about them, but you know
how little kids are."
"That's okay. So I'll see you later?"
"After class?"
"After class."
